A thunderstorm last week killed my father in law’s old Dell computer.
I was hesitant in teaching him how to move from Windows XP to Windows 8 (he is 75 years old), so I suggested buying a Chromebook. He agreed, and we ended up getting him the HP Chromebook 14.
I’m blown away by the quality of this laptop. Yes, it’s made of plastic, but the rubber-feel and build quality is excellent, the screen is bright and beautiful and the keyboard is more or less perfect.
And my father in law is very satisfied. He said it himself: “this is just like windows, only easier.”
"I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."
We’re moving into a new house in November. It’s three floors, so I’ve been pondering for a while now about what to do with WiFi in the house.
Today we just have an Apple Airport Extreme. It’s done a good job in our current flat for many years now, so I’ve been considering buying a few Airport Express routers to expand the network.
But I really hate have Apple has removed functionality from the Airport Utility, so I wanted something more powerful.
I’ve been eyeballing the Asus routers lately, and suddenly Komplett.no had a really cheap bundle of the RT-AC66U router with the RP-AC52 repeater.
So I ordered this bundle, and an additional RP-AC52 repeater. I received it yesterday, but there is no point in trying it out until we move, so I’m really looking forward to trying it out in a couple of months…
