This and that, mostly geek-stuff...

The first four episodes of True Blood season 7 was really disappointing, but from episode 5 it’s back on track.

After killing off Tara and softening Pam the series needed a new strong and ruthless woman. It seems Violet is going to fill that role and so far she’s doing a good job.

I’m not going to do any spoilers, but I see a “mother off all catfights” brewing…

"The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn’t understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had."
Eric Scmidt

This is a good walk-through of the current available Chromebooks on the market today.

Not bothered to see through the whole video? Here are five important takeaways:

  • Buy one with Intel’s Haswell based CPU
  • 2GB of RAM is enough, but 4GB is better
  • Dell Chromebook 11 is the best without touchscreen
  • Acer C720P is the best with touchscreen
  • Acer C720 gives most value for money

Note: Due to strong demand, the Dell Chromebook 11 is currently not available for order on Dell.com.

I love my Acer Chromebook, but some people might prefer a desktop instead.

HP has released a sexy little Chomebox with bluetooth keyboard and mouse. You can connect it to any monitor or TV with either HDMI or DisplayPort.

Read more about it on HP.com.

Acer is the king of Chromebooks… but just barely.

According to the website OMG! Chrome!, industry insiders are predicting that global Chromebook shipments will rise to as much as 5 million units this year.

Wondering about who “others” are? It’s: Lenovo, ASUS, Google (Pixel), Toshiba, LG, Dell.

Here in Norway we’ve had some fantastic summer-weeks now, with temperatures well over 30 degrees. With our long summer nights and long fjords, we tend to jump into our boats and stay there from morning to midnight.

Sadly lives are lost every year due to high speeds and low knowledge in using high powered boats and navigating our beautiful but treacherous waters.

In Norway it’s mandatory to have life vests for every passenger on-board even the smallest boat, but not to actually wear it.

That is good, it’s not always very practical to move about in the boat with a life vest on, but keeping it under your seat will not save you if you get thrown to sea at high speed, or get run over by some drunk idiot in a high powered boat he cannot control.

So do like Cecilia Brækhus and many other great Norwegian athletes, wear your life vest with pride!

Dr. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor, Who has been treating hundreds of victims wounded in Israel’s ongoing assault, including young children. Dr. Gilbert says hospitals are operating without electricity, water and proper medical supplies, but adds: “As a medical doctor, my appeal is don’t send bandages, don’t send syringes, don’t send medical teams. The most important medical thing you can do now is to force Israel to stop the bombing and lift the siege of Gaza.” Gilbert recently recently submitted a report to the United Nations on the state of the Gaza health sector in 2014. “Where is the decency in the U.S. government allowing Israel this impunity to punish the whole civilian population in Gaza?”
so far, close to 170 Palestinians have been killed, among them 36 children and 24 women. And among the 1,232 injured, there are 346 children and 256 women. So, 50 percent of the injured are women and children. Now, this tells you that these attacks are not targeting the militarists in Palestine, in Gaza. These attacks are targeting the whole population in order to intimidate them and to force them to give up their resistance. I’ve been to Gaza through the last 17 years, and every time it is the same story. Israelis are accusing the Palestinians of attacking them; they have to defend themselves, they claim. Actually, the truth is the exact opposite. Israel is the attacker, the occupant. Internationally, they are responsible, according to the law, for the security and the well-being of the occupied population, whereas in fact Israel is doing their utmost to kill them and to make their life as miserable as possible through these seven years of siege.
